Hotels and Lodging

For any of you who won’t be sleeping on a park bench or in the closet of a local Philadelphia buddy:

We’ve reserved rooms at a sweet downtown hotel. We recommend booking as soon as possible, as we were only permitted to lock 25 rooms. Please be advised that there are some other big events on the weekend of 08Dec that are already booking rooms.

Option A: Lowes Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market St. Philadelphia, PA.

This is a nice hotel in the heart of the city.   It is an easy 1 mile walk to Christ Church, straight down Market Street.  We reserved 25 rooms for our guests.  Additional rooms may be available–no guarantees.  Book your room by 08 November to get the group rate.  Call the hotel at 1-888-575-6397 and mention the “Braun / Clay Wedding Rooms” group.  The rate per night is $199 for two guests, single or double beds.  If you tell them you have more than 2 guests, the rate rises by $25 per extra person.  Parking is an additional $36.  Click here to book at the group rate.

Option B:  Wyndham Garden Hotel Philadelphia Airport, 45 Industrial Highway, Essington PA

We did not reserve rooms here, but we visited the location to make sure it’s acceptable.  It is.  Parking is free.  This is a no-frills hotel with clean rooms and decent accommodations.  At last check, the rates were under $100 via   They have a Denny’s next door.  The location is about 10 miles/20 minutes from the venue (just past Philadelphia Airport) on a nondescript, personality-free highway.  A taxi to this location would cost approximately $25.  If you want to walk it, it’s about 3 hours.  Plan accordingly.

Option  If neither of these options suit your needs, we recommend as a great way to find an option to meet your specific expectations or price level.  We spotted numerous options at an affordable price.

Option D:  If you cannot afford any of the options above, please contact Clay or Tara.  We don’t want anyone to miss the celebration due to money concerns.  With enough advance notice, we may be able to connect friends to share bookings or floorspace.

Directions and (NO) Parking at Christ Church Neighborhood House

There is no parking at Christ Church Neighborhood House (the Church itself was built in 1744–the founders didn’t plan a spot for your SUV).  Street parking is metered throughout the neighborhood and is limited by time and overpriced meters.  We recommend a nearby “pay” lot as the best option if you’re driving to the party.  (If possible, it might be best to park at your lodging and take public transit/taxi to the reception).  All of the following parking lots are a very short walk (1 to 5 minutes) from Christ Church.

Independence Parking: 39 N. 2nd St., hourly rates vary, up to $25 for overnight.
EZ Park: 44-50 N. 3rd St., hourly rates vary, up to $32 overnight
Parkway: 36 S. 2nd St., hourly rates vary, up to $30 overnight
Bourse Garage: 400 Ranstead St., rates and overnight vary

We’re not sure if you’ll need one, but here’s the info.  Taxis will be easily available following the end of the party (you’ll be in downtown Philadelphia).

Freedom Taxi (brand new Hybrid Taxicabs, recommended): 215-222-9999
PHL Taxi: 215-232-2000 or  215-222-5555
All City Taxi: (215) 467-6666
Victory: 215-225-5000
Liberty: 215-389-8000

Christ Church Neighborhood House is located at 20 North American Street  Philadelphia, PA 19106.
